Solar eclipse -
Tuesday July 2, 2019

Culture : The total eclipse reaches the mainland in its declining stages, but it will still be a spectular event even so. It makes landfall around Cruz Grande, north of La Serena, Chile, at 20:39 UT. At this point, although the eclipse is in its closing stages, the duration of the total eclipse will still be an impressive 2 minutes 38 seconds, and the path of the total eclipse will be 147 km wide. The path of totality crosses into Argentina, moving rapidly now, and passes north of Río Cuarto just after 20:42 UT; the eclipse path at this point will be about 136 km wide, and the total eclipse will last for 2 minutes 14 seconds on the centreline. The eclipse continues south-east, and finally ends just south of Buenos Aires at sunset, at 21:50:34 UT.
